Applying for Grant Support

Scharbauer Foundation is committed to supporting organizations and initiatives that create meaningful, measurable, and lasting impact throughout Midland and the community. The Foundation welcomes funding requests from organizations whose work aligns with its mission and focus areas.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully review eligibility requirements, funding priorities, and application guidelines prior to beginning the application process.

Before You Begin

Before submitting an application, organizations should be prepared to provide:

  • Organizational background and mission information
  • Project or program description
  • Community need and anticipated impact
  • Project timeline and implementation plan
  • Financial information and supporting documentation
  • Project budget and funding sources
  • Organizational leadership and governance information

Applications should clearly demonstrate alignment with the Foundation’s focus areas, long-term sustainability, and measurable community benefit.

Application Process Overview

  1. Review Eligibility Requirements

    Confirm that your organization and project align with the Foundation’s geographic scope, funding priorities, and eligibility guidelines by contacting the Foundation.

  2. Prepare Application Materials

    Gather all required organizational, financial, and project-related documentation prior to beginning the application.

  3. Submit a Pre-Application

    Pre-applications must be submitted by the deadline through the Foundation’s online grant portal. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

  4. Pre-Application Review Process

    Pre-applications are reviewed by the Foundation team to evaluate alignment, community impact, organizational capacity, and overall project sustainability.

  5. Invited Application Process

    Following the pre-application review process, selected organizations will be invited to submit a full grant application. Deadlines and other details will be communicated to each organization in an email from the Foundation.

  6. Follow Up & Site Visits

    Organizations may be contacted for additional information or to schedule a site visit during the review process.

  7. Funding Decisions, Grant Agreements, and Reporting

    Funding decisions will be communicated directly to applicants. Organizations awarded funding will receive a grant agreement with terms, conditions, and reporting requirements. Grant Agreements must be signed and returned to the Foundation before payments will 
be processed.
