Impact Stories
Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center
The Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center (PBBHC) was created to address one of West Texas’ most pressing healthcare challenges: access to comprehensive behavioral health services. Developed through a partnership between Midland Memorial Hospital, Medical Center Health System, and regional leaders, the facility was designed to expand behavioral healthcare capacity for individuals and families across the Permian Basin.
Completed in 2026, the 200-bed inpatient and outpatient center significantly increases access to mental health treatment, crisis stabilization, recovery services, and long-term behavioral healthcare support. The project represents a transformational investment in community wellness and a major step toward addressing longstanding behavioral health needs throughout the region.
Scharbauer Foundation played a significant role in advancing the vision for PBBHC, supporting a project that will impact thousands of residents while strengthening the long-term healthcare infrastructure of West Texas.
